This was my second campus interview. Last year I was in IEST Shibpurm Kolkata and this year in 2015 I got a chance to participate to interview candidates of KIIT  ( Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology) Bhubneswar. I interviewed around 100 students here.

Let me tell about my experience of the university. KIIT founder is Dr. Achyuta Samanta. He started his first institute in 1992 as Kalinga ITI training institute and then never looked back. Today KIIT is a deemed university with around 15 campuses spread in huge 600 acres land. KIIT provides all the facilities to its students and gives world class technical education. The level of students here is far better than any other institute.

I must mention KISS ( Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) a work which makes Dr. Samanta a great person and visionary of current time. This also has got a huge campus and houses 25000 tribal students to teach them free of cost. One can find students of all age groups starting from class 1 to PG here. All education free of cost including fooding and hostel. Free does mean quality is not compromised here. Students are being made self sustained. These would be collecting firewood in jungles if KISS was not here. And this is not like Christian missionaries which are doing social services with conversion in mind. I salute great visionary Mr Samanta.

I was amazed to see KISS campus does not take single unit of energy from outside. They have installed solar plates in rooftops to generate energy for the campus. They use food waste to generate cooking gas for cook good for 2500 children everyday. This called innovation. Food is prepared by students only year. Each student has to give one hour every month to prepare food.

Students here are provided vocation training for painting, food processing. I saw students steaching uniforms for themselves. The quality of painting was amazing. The school sells the paintings to open market and gives the money to students.

Students here have won lots of international mendals in sports. I could see a room full with awards.

Overall I can say the money KIIT is taking from its students for Technical education is going to wellfare of society and wish we have more such selfless people in our country, Even after setting up such a huge campus Mr. Samanta runs his office under a tree in campus and lives in a rented appartment. This is called simple living high thinking. Salute to this great visionary.
